Bentonite cat litter
What's Bentonite cat litter?
The montmorillonite dispersed in bentonite exhibits strong water absorption capabilities, making it suitable for use in cat litter. Our production facility is located in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China, which is rich in bentonite resources. With a bentonite reserve of 16.4 million tons, this region is a crucial source of bentonite in China. The bentonite cat litter production here accounts for approximately two-thirds of the national output, one-third of the total output in Asia, and one-fifth of the global production, emphasizing its significance in the industry.
Bentonite cat litter is a type of cat litter made from bentonite clay after dust removal. As a natural mineral material, bentonite is widely recognized for its cost-effectiveness, excellent water absorption, and clumping characteristics. When in contact with liquids, high-quality sodium-based bentonite rapidly absorbs the liquid, forming a sheet-like structure that is less likely to stick to the bottom of the litter box.
However, this type of mineral cat litter is a non-renewable resource and may have limited odor-control capabilities. Often, it requires the addition of deodorizing agents such as baking soda or activated carbon. Additionally, due to the inherent hardness of the mineral structure, despite dust removal during production, it may generate fine particles through collisions during transportation, leading to dust issues. Nevertheless, due to its affordability, bentonite cat litter remains one of the most popular types of cat litter worldwide.
